Poinsettia Community Club Pool Rules & Regulations

These rules have been established by the Board of Directors of the Poinsettia Community Club (hereafter PCC) for the protection and enjoyment of all members. They may be revised or added to at any time. A copy of the current version shall be posted at the PCC Pool facilities and website at all times. Please help us enforce these rules and notify the PCC Board if you have concerns or contact poinsettiasc@gmail.com

1. 2023 SEASON
The Pool will open on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend and will tentatively close on the last Sunday in September.

2. STANDARD HOURS OF OPERATION*
Times of operation will be posted at the pool, and on the website.
*Pool will be closed to swimming at 3:00pm for our home swim team meets, dates to be posted on the website. (Although we hope you will come out to support our community team!)

3. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
a. Pool membership is available for purchase for $300 for residents of Poinsettia subdivision and $320 for non-residents. A membership is defined as belonging to a single family and its immediate family members that reside in the same dwelling. Up to 4 grandchildren can be included on a membership, but the grandparent must accompany those grandchildren to the pool (under age 16) and all adult children must purchase their own membership.
b. Pool members that made the $1000 donation, will be considered pool members for three consecutive swim seasons. However, the signature page will still be required to activate your key card.

4. MEMBER ADMISSION
a. Identification must be proven by means of a current official Poinsettia magnetic key card or key fob. This pass must be kept at all times at the pool area for proof of membership. Any pool committee member may ask for proof of membership at any time.

5. GUEST ENTRY
a. All guests to the PCC Pool area must be invited by an adult member of the hosting family and will be the responsibility of the host family and must be documented on the member sign in sheet.
b. A person can only be considered a guest if they reside more than 25 miles from the pool facilities or are staying overnight with a pool member. Residents of the Poinsettia neighbors that are not pool members can not be a guest of any pool member, and will be asked to leave.
c. All guests under the age of 16 using any facilities of the Poinsettia Community Pool must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.
d. Each family membership is limited to no more than 5 guests at a time. More than 5 guests will constitute a party which must be booked through the PCC Board.

6. AGE REQUIREMENTS:
a. NO one under 16 years of age is permitted in the pool area without supervision. The accompanying responsible adult must be at least 18 years of age or older to supervise children under 16. (Multiple offenses can result in loss of membership)
b. NO one under the age of 18 is permitted to swim alone.

7. SAFETY
a. Water Entry: No lifeguards will be on duty and swimmers will swim at their own risk, but no one under the age of 18 is permitted to swim alone.
b. Wading pool (aka Kiddie Pool): The wading pool is restricted to children up to and including the age of six (6) years. Metallic toys are not permitted in the wading pool. Children in the wading pool are solely the responsibility of the parent(s) or adult(s) supervising their safety and behavior.
c. Swimming Aids: Parents of children using any flotation devices must supervise their children’s use. These devices may not be used in such a manner so as to interfere with other member’s normal usage.
d. Jewelry: Swimmers are requested to remove all loose metal objects before entering into the pool. (Jewelry, hair clips, etc.)
e. Behavior: No boisterous or rough play will be tolerated in or around the pool area. No loud, lewd, or inappropriate behavior will be allowed in or around the pool area. This includes the pavilion and back parking lot area. This will be enforced by the pool committee.
f. Safety Equipment: All swimmers will refrain from tampering with any safety equipment including but not limited to depth markers, ropes, floats, vending machine, railings, and furniture. Membership to the pool can be revoked and or monetary fees shall be incurred on any damages.
g. Glass: Besides eyewear, no glass containers or glass items of any kind shall be brought into the pool area or bathhouse. The violating party shall be solely responsible for any damages, physical or monetary, stemming from their violation. This includes bottles for beverages or glassware of any kind.
h. Alcohol: No Alcoholic beverage containers shall be brought into the pool area or parking lot during scheduled operating hours. No person under the influence will be allowed to enter or remain in the water and may be asked to leave the facility.
i. Drugs: NO use of Drugs will be tolerated.
j. Entry Ways: Area around all entry gates, pool steps/ladders , and Pool Office entry must remain clear and unobstructed. The entrance gates shall not be propped open without prior authorization from the PCC Board.
k. Storms: The pool and deck areas must be evacuated during all electrical storms. Swimming may resume 3o minutes after the last thunderbolt or visible lightning strike.
l. Tidiness: All pool area users are required to clean up after themselves leaving the pool area clean, neat and orderly. Any trash generated must be removed upon leaving and/or deposited into provided receptacles.
m. Diving Board:
1. Only one person is permitted on each diving board at a time.
2. Jumping area must be clear before the next diver jumps off board.
3. Divers must swim to the outside edge of the pool.
4. Swimmers are not permitted to hang from the diving boards.
5. No swimmer is permitted to hang from the diving boards.

n. Vehicles: Members and their Guests shall drive slowly and carefully on all streets, driveways, and parking areas. All motor vehicles shall be parked in designated parking areas, either in the front or back parking lots. “Curbside” parking on the street is prohibited unless actively loading or unloading.

8. HEALTH
a. Existing Health Conditions: No person having a communicable disease, skin eruption, fungus infection, eye-ear-nose or throat infection or wearing bandages shall be permitted to use the pool. Expectorating and blowing your nose in the pool is prohibited.
b. Injuries: ALL serious personal injuries, regardless of severity, must be reported to the PCC Board during swim.
c. Diapers: No baby diapers are allowed in the pool. Swim diapers are required for infants and toddlers not currently “potty-trained”.
d. Pets: No pets allowed within the pool area except assistance animals as allowed by law.
e. Showering: All swimmers must shower prior to entering the water as requested by the S.C. Board of health. Repeat showering is requested before entering the pool after the use of any non-water resistant sun tanning cream or oil.
f. Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in the pool area or in the immediate surrounding area. Smoking is not permitted in the Pavilion area.

9. AUTHORITY
a. Pool Committee Members: Pool Committee Members shall have full authority to dismiss from the pool any person breaking any of the pool rules, exhibiting unbecoming conduct, using indecent language or failing to show evidence of his/her right to use the pool.
b. Suspension: Pool Committee Members have the authority to suspend for one day the privileges of anyone (adult or child) who, in his or her judgment, is not abiding by the rules as set forth by the PCC Board of Directors. Suspensions will be reported to the Board of Directors and further action may result in permanent suspension for the swim season.
c. Equipment Use: No one other than an employee of the PCC contracted Pool Management Company acting in the duties of their job, a PCC hired contractor performing a specific service, or a member of the PCC Board of Directors themselves will be permitted in the pump house or chlorine room nor be allowed to operate any equipment including but not limited to valves, vacuums, chemicals, skimmer pits, etc.

10. RESPONSIBILITY
a. Swim/Use At Your Own Risk: ALL persons using the PCC Pool and surrounding facilities do so at their own risk! PCC and its Board of Directors assume no responsibility for any injury, damage, or death resulting from such use. The responsibility of the parent or party who escorts children to the pool continues while those children are on PCC property.
b. Personal Property: The PCC is not responsible for the loss of or damage to any personal property.
c. Liability: The cost of any property damage to PCC facilities occasioned by any member or guest will be charged to the responsible member.

11. AGREEMENT
a. By signing the signature page attachment, you are agreeing to all of the rules of the contract above. Your pool pass shall not be activated until a signed copy of the signature page and payment have been received by the PCC Board. The signature page is available to print on the PCC website (www.poinsettiasc.org)
